Lovely New Baking Tools

May 11, 2015

One of my favourite things about being an avid baker is getting to try new tools. Theres something very appealing about using new cake tins for the first time or making cute biscuits from different shaped cookie cutters. I was recently contacted by Cake Mart about reviewing a few of the baking products from their website. Obviously I jumped at the chance!

I got a few new things, since I like to recreate vintage recipes on the blog I wanted things I could use for those authentic recipes but would add a cute modern finish to they way they looked. I think the products I chose will be perfect for that.

First up I got a really cute cardboard cake stand. I love anything floral and I really liked the pink and yellow shades used in the design. I thought this would be perfect to display a big cake or smaller ones and I was really impressed by how sturdy and hard-wearing it is compared to other cardboard stands I’ve had in the past. This one will last ages and I love having a pretty cake stand that I can store flat so it doesn’t take up too much room.

I have been wanting a cookie press forever, so I absolutely had to get one. These are ridiculously easy to use and you end up with the most amazing looking biscuits with very little effort. This set included a recipe to make the right biscuits which was really handy. I going to try to find a good vintage recipe for Viennese biscuits and try that in the press soon to see if it works.

Wilton Cookie Press

I used the cookie press to make all these lovely cookies which I took to my mum’s for a vintage tea party a few weeks ago. It comes with 12 different discs, so you can make a really great mix of designs.

Next I got a set of 3 mini cake tins in different sizes. I thought these would be great for making mini versions of some of my large cake recipes. I’ve used these once and was really happy with them.

I made some mini versions of my cherry cake recipe, but I’d like to try making little loaf cakes like banana bread and lemon drizzle cake soon too.

Lastly I got this cookie stamp. I haven’t used it yet, but I thought it would be lovely to use it on a more boring plain biscuit recipe, to make them look a bit more interesting. I’ll hopefully find a good recipe soon and give this one a go, so watch this space.

Soooo splendidly pretty! I am certain you must have one of the most beautiful kitchens and cookery tool collections in all of the UK (if not the world!).

I just wish I had a bigger kitchen so I could display it all!
