I’m always on the lookout for pretty shoes that go well with my vintage dresses. I was recently sent these lovely heels from Ruby Shoo, to feature on the blog and they really are delightful. I chose the Charlie shoes in gold. Not only do they look gorgeous, they are also vegan friendly too. Perfect for anyone wanting fabulous footwear, without opting for leather.
I have a bit of an obsession with coloured tights at the moment and these shoes go perfectly with lots of different colours. I popped mine on with an original 1950s dress, which was a car boot sale find. It may be winter, but that doesn’t mean clothes can’t be fun and colourful.
The shoes are really beautiful quality. I love all the little details, from the beautifully shaped heel to the lovely floral embellishment. They are so cute and fun. They have a feminine retro feel to them, while still being quite modern and quirky.
I chose this particular style because I liked the idea of a neutral colour that could go with lots of different things. The cute polka dots are subtle enough that I can wear them with lots of different patterned dresses. They are definitely a welcome addition to my wardrobe.
Size wise I went for my normal size 6, but actually found them little tight. In the end I found the 7 more comfortable, although I may add a little insole at the front to get the fit just right.
My main recommendation with these, is to make sure you wear them in. They are quite firm and robust at first and definitely get more comfortable as they soften up and get some wear. I’ve started wearing them around the house a bit each day to get them a bit more comfortable.
I absolutely cannot wait to try these with lots of other pretty dress and tights combinations. I think they’d go really well with both dark and light colours. I also think they’ll be great throughout the year with warmer weather outfits as well as winter ones. They also come in a navy brocade finish, which I love too. If you’re looking for a more everyday shoe, Ruby Shoo also have a selection of flats, mid heels and ballet pumps, so there’s definitely something for everyone.
