Last week on a sunny Thursday afternoon I headed to Camden for an afternoon tea at the gorgeous York and Albany. The tea was hosted by Johnny Loves Rosie, a premium jewellery and accessories brand. I was joined by several other fantastic bloggers and it was absolutely lovely getting to know everyone, while checking out all the pretty things.

Johnny Loves Rosie Blogger LunchWhen I arrived the tables were beautifully set out with displays of the latest collection of jewellery as well as lovely personalised gifts for us, including a monogrammed clutch bag and little initial necklaces.

Johnny Loves Rosie Blogger Event

Johnny Loves Rosie Monogram BagThe latest collection is filled with lovely sparkly statement pieces, as well as more modern on trend items. They have also launched a bridal range which includes hair pieces, corsages as well as beautiful jewellery for your big day. I particularly liked the hair accessories and I have my eye on quite a few of them for the summer.

York and Albany Lemon CakeThe whole event was absolutely lovely and I really enjoyed looking through some of the beautiful accessories and I’ve spotted lots of things that I’d like to add to my collection over the next few months. If you’re looking for the perfect accessory for a wedding, festival or just a treat for yourself I’d definitely recommend taking a look at the Johnny Loves Rosie website.

I love going to blogger and press events, where I get to try new things. I’ve been to a few recently which have involved crafting and I’ve enjoyed them all so much. A couple of moths ago I went to one hosted by Hochanda, a new art and craft channel. At the event we got to try four different activities. I only managed to get a few quick snaps of my creations on my phone. I thought I’d share them with you, to show what can be made in a quick session.

Hochanda Press dayThe event was held at the Ham Yard Hotel in London, which has the most fabulous decor and is one of my favourite venues for events in London. How awesome are the huge vintage movie posters!

Hochanda Press day WatercolourThe first thing I tried was water colour painting, something I’ve not tried in a really long time. My finished piece was far from perfect, but I really enjoyed giving it a try anyway. We were talked through each step of creating our picture and with a little work, I definitely think it’s something I could improve at. This mini workshop was hosted by The Society for all Artists, who encourage everyone to try to art no matter what their ability and sell a great range of art and painting supplies.

Hochanda Press Day Clarity StampNext I tried some paper craft with Clarity Stamp. You use a special tool to create beautiful embossed designs that you can use to create pictures and cards. This was so much fun and we got to take a little kit home, so I can make a few more things. I really like how my piece came out.

Hochanda Press day Die Cutting MachineI’ve never tried die cutting before, so it was great to have a quick lesson with Sizzix but I was amazed how quickly I was able to make this cute felt brooch. This has to be one of the most satisfying crafts I’ve ever tried and one day I love to invest in my own die cutting machine so I could make jewellery and appliqués to accessorise my clothes.

Hochanda Press Day Glitter ArtLastly I made a beautiful glitter picture with Imagination Crafts. To make these you use a stencil and a special glittery paint. This is so easy, quick and fun that anyone could do it. I’d love to make christmas cards using this technique one day.

It was great sampling some some of the craft supplies which are available through Hochanda. The channel is really fun to watch for lots of crafty inspiration and demonstrations. You can watch live on their website or on the following channels… SKY 663 Freeview 39 FreeSat 817 You can also buy your craft supplies online via the Hochanda website.

Ways to follow Vintage Frills

Instagram – Twitter – Facebook – Pinterest – Youtube – Bloglovin’

I’ve always really liked the classic styles and prints of Boden clothes. They can fit really well into a vintage wardrobe and I always love to see how other bloggers style their Boden outfits. One of my favourite dresses is the Nancy Dress which I wore in an outfit post last year. A few weeks ago I popped along to the Boden AW15 press day to see what they had in store for us later in the year.

Boden AW15 Press Day - All Hail New British

The press day itself was absolutely gorgeous, the decoration was amazing and the quintessentially British theme worked so well alongside all the lovely clothes. Each area was sectioned off to look like little shops housing different parts of the collection and there was a central area with park benches, trees and even a busker!

This Autumn and Winter sees a new chapter for Boden, they have completely shaken up their offering with a far more fashion forward approach to their designs. The look is very different to their past collections and although I liked what they were doing before, their new designs offer the same quality we’d previously seen with a far more innovative feel.

All Hail New British is the theme of the day and Boden are trying to be bold as they reinvent themselves while still retaining the former warmth and wit that has always made their clothes stand out against their competitors.

Boden AW15 Press Day All Things Graphic

The colour palette begins with a selection of bright bold feminine clothes and block colours. This is all about mixing and matching and being brave with colour. There was  great selection of separates which would be absolutely perfect for forming a capsule wardrobe. The collection is complimented by bright accessories and shoes to finish the look perfectly.

Boden AW15 Press Day All Things Eclectic

If cooler more muted shades are more your cup of tea, the mint, dusty pink and soft neutral shades sat beside the new Hunters of Brora Hertitage Tweed archive items, will be more up your street. This classic feminine colour palette has some beautiful key pieces and they all mix and match perfectly.

Boden AW15 Press Day Tweed AccessoriesThe complimenting accessories were my favourite pieces from the collection and I just think the tweed looks absolutely perfect on bags and shoes.

Boden AW15 Press Day Johnnie B Shoes

The Johnnie B teen collection is eclectic and very trendy. With it’s spirit of youthful rebellion the fun colours and absolutely amazing shoes, would be perfect for fashion focused teens. I’m eyeing up all the cute accessories for myself too!

Boden AW15 Press Day Gold DressThe range that I found most inspiring was a throwback to the sixties and seventies with a fantastic eclectic colour palette and a quirky use of fabric and texture. The gold dress pictured above is the piece I particularly have my eye on and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Boden AW15 Press Day Kids Knitwear

For the little ones, there is plenty of the usually cute and comfy clothing you’d expect from Boden. The children’s collection features lots of colour and pretty printed cottons and fairisle knits. I’ve always loved Boden’s children’s clothes and wish they were slightly more in my budget so I could deck my two girls out in their lovely stuff!

Boden AW15 Press Day Kids Woolies and WelliesTo keep the small people cosy and warm as the weather gets colder there are lots of lovely wellies and adorable knitted accessories as well as a great selection of coats.

I was really impressed with Boden’s new approach to their already successful brand and I’m really looking forward to seeing people’s responses when the new pieces become available later in the year.

I’ve talked about Clarks a few times on the blog before, I’m a huge fan of the Orla Kiely range and I really like their huge collection of brogues which always go well with vintage outfits. I recently went to the Clarks AW15 press day to see what would be coming into their stores later this year. There were so many lovely shoes there that I can’t show you everything, but here are a few of my highlights…

Clarks AW15 Press Day

Orla Kiely: I’ve loved the previous Orla collections for Clarks, the 60s and 70s influences are just fantastic. You can expect the same chunky designs and timeless style that you could expect from any Orla Kiely product and this seasons collection is retro fabulous.

Clarks Press Day AW15 Orla Kiely Abigail

The Abigail is a glittery disco-tastic shoe of dreams. Orla styles have sold out really quickly in the past and I can see these flying off the shelves really quickly. They are just fabulous! With the seventies trend really set to take course this autumn I can see these retro styles being more popular than ever. These are also going to be available in mock croc brown and back leather finishes.

Clarks AW15 Press Day Orla Kiely Angelina

The Orla Angelina is just adorable. Being flats, these would make a perfect everyday shoe for both work and play. The cute flower detail is so sweet. I personally love the pink but these will be coming in four colour ways including black mock croc and black and gold sparkle leather.

Clarks AW15 Press Day Orla Kiely Amelia, Alice and Audrey

Also in the Orla range is the Amelia Mary Jane which is a cute mid heel shoe with a strap detail. These will be available in rose leather, cocoa floral leather and navy sparkle leather. I could easily own these in every finish, they’d look so lovely with a sixties shift dress and coloured tights. If you like a smart retro loafer then Alice in black mock croc or cocoa flower print leather are the perfect go-to shoe. I really liked the Audrey boot as well. The Navy blue floral finish is so retro and quintessentially Orla Kiely.

Brogues: I’ve always seen Clarks as the best place to find good quality women’s brogues in a plethora or colours and textures. This year will see lots of new designs and colour ways and I love them all.

Clarks AW15 Press Day BroguesI really love the two tone options and also can’t resists the silver finish. They are all so smart and classic.

Womens Shoes and Boots: There are lot’s of other classic shoes in the range, I was really impressed with the mix of colours and materials used.

Clarks AW15 Press Day BootsI saw lots of great boots on display. One of my favourites were these brown boots, I’d wear these with jeans or over leggings with a knitted dress in the colder months. The Kendra lace up shoes, are a modern take on classic 40s shoes and would look really good worn with a classic tweed suit. I love all the metallic leathers in Clarks’ offering this year and I think these silver ones are fab.

Clarks AW15 Press Day Leopard PrintI can never resist leopard print, so I was instantly drawn to these shoes and boots. I’d wear the shoes with a plain black dress and tights with some gold jewellery, to let the accessories do the talking.

Kids: Being a mum I couldn’t forget the little ones. I’ve often turned to Clarks in the past when choosing shoes for the girls. They had loads of great stuff for small feet and these are a few I really liked.

Clarks AW15 Press Day Kids ShoesThe cute brown boots and red and silver shoes behind them, are based on designs from the Clarks archive, so if you love vintage, your little ones feet will look lovely in these. The boots are so soft inside and I think they’d look lovely on Lila. Clarks are also offering their classic dessert boots which were first designed in 1950s for children. I love their glittery trainers, I know my girls would run straight to those if they were choosing their shoes.

Clarks AW15 Press Day Baby Shoes

For teeny tiny feet, these soft shoes look so warm and comfy for the colder moths.

What do you think of all the shoes? We still have the summer ahead of us and a little while to wait before these are in store, but I’m already choosing which pair of Orlas I’ll be treating myself to!
