Vintage Accessory Car Boot Finds

May 10, 2015

It’s been a little while since I shared my car boot sale finds. I haven’t been to that many this year as we’ve been so busy and on Sunday mornings I’ve felt more like catching up on sleep than getting up at the crack of dawn to look for vintage treasure. I have been to a couple in the last week though. Last Monday we popped to Hook Road Arena car boot sale which is always packed on a bank holiday and on Wednesday we went to my all time favourite Wimbledon car boot, which as usual was so packed with vintage and antiques that it was a little overwhelming!

All I bought at Hook Road in the end was a beautiful embroidered brooch and some clip on earrings. I’ve collected embroidered brooches for years, you can see a few more of them in this post. This one was a steal at just £1.50 and is already one of  my favourites. I also absolutely love over the top fruit jewellery. I got these fruity clip on earrings for just £1. They need quite a lot of cleaning and restoration as you can see from the picture, but I love a project, so I’m not complaining.

Vintage Brooches

At Wimbledon I picked up this wonderful vintage umbrella for £3, its absolutely huge and could definitely double up as a parasol for the summer. This just needs a little cleaning and it’s good to go.

I bought two pairs of 1960s shoes for £3 each. The first pair are almost identical to another pair I own, I’m wearing them in this post. I’m going to keep these ones as they fit perfectly and you can’t go wrong with black shoes after all.

The other pair I bought turned out to be much too big. They’re about a size 8 and I’m a 6 so I’ll probably end up selling them once I’ve given them a clean. I hardly ever find vintage or retro shoes in larger sizes so these two were a great find.

I also spotted some vintage clothing in the back of someones truck and asked if I could go in and have a look. I spotted quite a few good items and he ended up offering me everything he had for £60. So I snapped up a huge array of mixed vintage pieces, some are so damaged they can’t be saved but other bits were perfect so I’ve put these aside for cleaning and selling when I get the time. I’m so glad I asked to take a look!

Have you found any good vintage at car boot sales recently? It can be hard these days.

I love all these things! Those fruit earrings are adorable and so unique. And the shoes are really lovely. Definitely makes me want to go and have a rummage around at a car boot or flea market.

I’m intrigued – how do you go about cleaning an umbrella?

I haven’t decided yet, but I think I’m just going to try sponge cleaning it with a mild detergent.
I’m also going to sand and re varnish the wooden bits.

Gorgeous umbrella! I love that it has the look and feel of both an Edwardian and a mid-century piece. Awesome finds, dear gal!

Thank you. I’m obsessed with the umbrella. I won’t mind the rain at all carrying this one!
