Barry M AW15 New Products Review and Swatches

October 2, 2015

Last week I went to the Barry M AW15 press day to see all the lovely make-up that was coming in for this season. You may have seen my Barry M nail polish collection post last year and will know how obsessed I am with their polishes, but I’ve never tried much of their make-up before (except the glittery eyeshadows when I was a teenager). The event was held at the London Bridge Experience, which was super creepy and loads of fun, but very dark so I didn’t get any good pics of the products. I was delighted to take home a goody bag which lots of the new launches to try at home. It always feels like Christmas when I get a new set of beauty products to try especially ones as lovely as these!

Barry M AW15 Palettes
First up were three palettes consisting of a bronzer, blush and highlight kits, a lovely set of eyeshadows and a lipgloss palette. I absolutely love the girlie packaging I really like make-up in card packaging as it looks so pretty! All the palettes are priced at just £6.49 making them an absolute steal! Go to the bottom of this post for swatches of all the colours.

Barry M AW15 Super Natural Eyeshadow Palette
The eyeshadow palette is a versatile collection of natural toned shadows going from extremely light to really dark. The set is perfect for taking you from a natural day time look to a more dramatic night time effect. I tend to use one eyeshadow palette at a time so I like to have a set that cover lots of different looks. The set features mattes, pearls and metallics and tones go from pale pinks to dark browns. I particularly like the lighter pearl shades which are subtle enough for a vintage make-up look.  The pigmentation is fantastic so you don’t need to use much to build up a rich coverage of colour. The set come with a handy mirror so if like me you sometimes find yourself doing your make-up on the go this will be super handy!

Barry M AW15 Get Up and Glow Bronzer Blusher and Highlighter Palette
Next up is the fab little bronze and blush kit. This kit includes a lovely rich bronzer as well as three blushers and a highlighter. I love the very different shades of blusher, I’ll definitely be using all of them to create different looks. The highlighter is perfect for giving skin the perfect glow. As with the eyeshadows the pigmentation is pretty good too. I’m going to use the kit to add a little contouring as part of my every day make-up routine.

Barry M AW15 Pout 'n' About Lip Gloss Palette
Lastly the lip gloss palette with 5 handy shades. I don’t usually use lip palettes as they not so easy to carry around as an individual lipstick, however I really do like all the shades included in this set. The glosses are really smooth and easy to apply and give a lovely glossy slick of colour to the lips. The colours come out surprisingly well for a gloss and stay put for quite some time. I’d definitely recommend this if you’re looking to build up your make-up collection without having to buy lots of individual colours, and I know these will come in really handy to me when I’m taking outfit photos for the blog.

Barry M AW15 Gelly Nail Polish Blacks
Obviously being a collector of Barry M nail polishes I was delighted to receive four new shades. The Midnight Gelly collection features 4 gorgeous off black shades, I love really dark polishes for autumn and winter and I love these as an alternative to classic black polish. The colours are all absolutely gorgeous. I’ve not swatched these as my nails are feeling a little worse for wear at the mment so I’m giving them a rest, but I’ll try and post some pics later in the year. The Barry M Gellys are definitely a favourite of mine as they are so thick and glossy and the large brush makes application easy peasy. My only warning would be that they take forever to dry, really, absolutely bloody ages! However it’s clearly never put me off as I own so many. Once they finally do dry, the finish is amazing and they stay put for days so good things definitely come to those who wait! These cost £3.99 each.

Barry M AW15 Light Me Up! Liquid Highlighter
The last product I tried was a lovely glossy liquid highlighter. It can be applied all over the face or mixed with your foundation or moisturiser to give the skin a paerfect healthy glow. You can also just dab it in certain areas you want to highlight such as under the brows  and down the nose. I love the formulation of the product, you only need to use a little bit to get great coverage, so this small bottle would last absolutely ages. I know I’m going to be using this ones loads. The highlighter costs £4.99.

Barry M AW15 Swatches
I swatched the eyeshadow palette, bronzer kit and lip glosses here so you can see all the lovely colours. Each one has two layers of product so you can see it built up.

I’m really impressed by the full offering this season and if I find time in between being a mummy and tidying up after everyone I might try and create a couple of vintage make-up looks using the products so you can see how I’ve been using them. Watch this space (maybe).

Let me know what you think of the products and which ones you have your eye on.
