In my last blog post I mentioned that I recently acquired some more fabulous Laura Ashley dresses. It was such a great mix of styles and eras. Definitely something for every Laura Ashley collector. One of my favourite styles of Laura dresses are the gorgeous Laura Ashley smock dresses. These were particularly popular offerings from the brand in the late 1970s and early 80s in a mixture of different prints and fabric types.
Laura Ashley Smock Dresses
Smock dresses are perfect for staying cosy and layering up in cold weather, but are also great transitional pieces to wear into Spring. I love adding a belt and some warm wooly tights and knits at this time of year. The collection comes in a variety on different fabrics, from needlecord, to thicker cottons and also more lightweight cottons. Most of the smock dresses have high collars, including some fabulous ruffly pie crust collars. I also have a couple with Peter Pan style collars.
One of my favourite features of Laura dresses is their amazing sleeves, from full puff sleeves to flattering and dramatic bishop sleeves. I love the little details you often get, like matching buttons and ruffle details at the cuffs. The Laura Ashley smock dresses also have a great variety of gorgeous sleeves!
