Vintage Frills Beauty – No7 Deco Darling Make-Up

November 21, 2012

“This christmas, take a trip back into the roaring 1920s with the Deco Darling collection. Inspired by the Great Gatsby, Created by Lisa Eldridge”

If you think this sounds amazing, then you’d be right. Everything has gone very 1920s lately, the massive anticipation for the Great Gatsby film has sent trends back to the time of the flapper.

I was sent a few samples from the new No7 Deco Darling range to try. As a lover of vintage I’m always looking for nostalgic make-up and products that can be used to create a vintage look. I was sent two gorgeous nail polishes and an eyeshadow palette to try. I’m a big fan of No7 products anyway and I’m always excited about new ranges, especially vintage inspired ones.

I like No7 nail polishes because they are really easy to apply. The brush is thick and soft which gives an even coverage in just a couple of coats. the colours are very strong too.

The two shades are really nice I’ve tried them out here on a plate to give you an idea of the colours. ‘Speakeasy’ the darker dusky shade is a very dark grey, almost black with a very fine silver shimmer. I loved this colour because it is very elegant and a slightly classier take on black.

The other colour option is ‘Daisy Darling’ which contains larger glitter disks in a very pretty shade of pink. I really like that the glitter is larger than that usually found in nail polish. It would look great on its own although I’ve tried it over the other shade as well.

The eye palette contains four shades, all quite dark. The colours are inspired by the dark and dramatic eye-make up style of the 1920s.

“Mix the golds and greys together or use the colours separately for smouldering eyes that say it all” says Lisa Eldridge No7’s creative director.

I particularly like the two darker shades as I like a lot of drama when creating a smokey eyed look.

Here’s me having a little go at deco-dence! Think I need to work on this look!!!

I finished the look using No7 Stay Perfect Foundation, No7 Creme Touch Face Powder, Black Kohl Eyeliner, No7 Lash Adapt Mascara, No7 Sheer Temptation Lipstick in Lovely with a little Inika Lipwhip in Berry over the top.

I really enjoyed trying out the range, and will definitely have a practice at perfecting the 1920s look. The colours would also work well on more subtle modern looks. The grey nail polish is a fantastic colour and I will be using this one a lot.
