If there’s one vintage event you go to this spring, it has to be The Mid Century Market. The wonderful fair organised by the lovely Bettina Scarlett returns for a second date on Saturday 12th April.
This is one of the only vintage fairs that really singles out a specific era and sticks to it. Everything on sale is from the 50s or in the style of, making it the perfect shopping destinations for die-hard vintage fans.
I absolutely loved the last one, any place where I’m surrounded by beautiful 50s dresses with tea and cake to hand is my idea of the perfect day out! The last fair was just before christmas and my funds were very limited although I did pick up a few bits. This time I’m thinking ahead and putting a little money away in anticipation!
There are a lot of vintage fairs out there today and most have lot’s of fabulous vintage to choose from, however this one really stands out for true vintage enthusiasts due to it’s strict focus on the 1950s. There are no 70s and 80s gap-fillers here, it’s all the real deal and the choice is fantastic. If reproduction is more your thing there are loads of great brand new items all in beautiful vintage style prints and cuts. If you like something with true authenticity Bettina’s fabulous choice of sellers can provide you with all kinds of beautiful things. From hats to handbags, cigarette pants to pencil skirts, wiggle dresses to circle skirts it’s all there. I even spotted a few original vintage girdles at the last event.
There are also plenty of menswear and home items as well as a vintage record store so all tastes are covered. And when your done shopping to your heart’s content there is also a lovely vintage tearoom with a great choice of cake.
While you’re there be sure to check out the amazing outfits on both the sellers and most of the customers, there were definitely some die-hard vintage fans there in all their fifties finery. And if you fancy a little vintage make over yourself there will be both a vintage hair parlour and a barber to transform you.
Here’s me shopping at the last fair!
The last fair was so popular that Bettina instantly got requests for a follow-up event and I can’t wait. So turn your diaries to April 12th and be sure to make a note of this event.
