My Birthday and a Photo Walk Around Spitalfields

December 3, 2018

So not only is it day 3 of Blogmas it’s also my 33rd birthday! I thought I’d share a quick post and a few photos from my day. As we all know I love nothing more than going on photo walks around London and taking pictures of lovely old houses. I’ve visited Spitalfields Market countless times, but not ever looked at the gorgeous surrounding streets. It’s been top of my list of places to go for ages, so when Rob asked me what I wanted to do with my day I jumped at the chance to go exploring.

The protected area is full of early 18th century houses with the most gorgeous doors and shutters. I’m a complete London door addict, so I was in history geek heaven. The area is like a little time warp and I loved it. The weather was a bit hit and miss with the odd torrential shower, but it wouldn’t be London in winter, if you didn’t get completely soaked!

One of my birthday presents was a new Fitbit. As a big fan of walking, I love keeping an eye on my steps and making sure I hit my daily target, so I was so happy with my gift. I managed to get lots and lots of steps in while wandering around enjoying the buildings.

I wore an original 50s tartan dress, which is one of my December staples. It’s just the right side of Christmassy! I really was a bit damp and frizzy haired by the time we took this picture, but never mind!

I had such a lovely day and if like me you are a total London geek, then you definitely need to go and explore Spitalfields. I felt like I was in a Dickensian novel!

Do you have any favourite spots in London to go on photo walks, or just to enjoy? I shared a few of mine in the summer in my blog post about colourful streets in London.
