Earlier today we took a little trip to Mitcham Common to go ‘pond dipping’ which is basically fishing some water out of a pond and seeing hat little creatures you can find. My oldest daughter loves nature and the weather was beautiful so it was a lovely day out. I love doing free stuff with the kids and this was a lovely old-fashioned way to have fun – not a games console in sight!
The creatures did not disappoint and we managed to tick lots of little water bugs out and ticked them off on a list we had downloaded. the highlight was definitely these cute little tadpoles which were well of their way to being frogs!
Today I wore a 1970s sundress which I bought on Ebay. I love this dress as it’s a nice unlined cotton – perfect for the very hot weather we are fin ally having in London right now. I teamed it up with some simple gold bangles and a pair of ballet pumps. Although next time I go fishing around in a pond I might also pack my wellies!
I also had my hair cut this week! It was a very drastic change but I’m so happy with it. I’m going to try lot’s of vintage hairstyles that I just couldn’t do with my really long hair.

We used to that as youngsters, too, down at the Pacific Ocean in Vancouver- one stood to pull out anything from a wee crab to a teeny starfish.

July 8, 2013 at 2:53 pmWhat a lovely outfit! I imagine it kept you cool in this heatwave that the UK is currently experiencing.
On a side note, I didn’t know you was from around that area of London. I am too – well no more as I have recently picked up sticks and moved to Wales. Glad you enjoyed your family day on the common 🙂
