Life Lately in Pictures

June 15, 2015

I cannot believe I have not so much as looked at this blog for a whole week. It’s unusual for me to go more than a couple of days without sharing a post, but I’ve needed a break. Life has been really busy recently, with blog stuff, family stuff and our trip to the Isle of Wight, not to mention launching my Etsy shop. I’ve tried to fit so much in that I ended up getting exhausted and getting a really bad cold. Something had to give and it ended up being my blog.

I mentioned before I went away that I wanted to start doing more Week in Pictures posts and then ended up not doing one for three weeks. I thought it would be best to just do them when I feel like it, so kicking of from where I left my last post, this is my Life Lately in Pictures. (Can I also point out this doesn’t include the mountains of washing, the many school runs and all the boring bits!)

25th May – This was me and Rob’s 7th wedding anniversary, I really don’t know where the times gone! We got up early and headed to Southhampton with the kids to get our ferry to the Isle of Wight. When we got there we headed straight to Godshill Model Village which I blogged about here.

After that we visited Carisbrooke Castle which was absolutely amazing and the kids loved all the brilliant activities they got to take part in.

26th May – We headed to Blackgang Chine, which is probably the best theme park ever. The girls love exploring all the little worlds there and pretending to be princesses, fairies and pirates.

After a morning playing, we had such a relaxing afternoon visiting Newtown Town Hall, a pretty National Trust property, before taking a long walk around Newtown village and the beautiful salt marshes nearby.

Then we went to a gorgeous pub in Godshill, which not only had amazing food, but also a climbing frame, bouncy castle a huge maze! We had a huge helping of carvery and relaxed for the rest of the afternoon while the kids played.

Life Lately - The Falcon Godshill28th May – We went to one of my favourite places on the island. Not only does the Needles Park have amazing views over the needles themselves, it also has The Sand Shop. The Sand Shop is one of my favourite memories of trips to The Isle of Wight as a kid and I still love filling little glass jars with coloured sand and so do the girls. It was such a windy day so we didn’t stay in the area long and I nearly got blown away trying to get a good picture of the needles!

On the way back we stopped in Yarmouth for lunch in gorgeous tearoom by the sea. The view was absolutely lovely and the food was amazing.

Life Lately YarmouthWe spent the rest of the day on the beach successfully getting our kite in the air for the first time ever and looking for shells and treasure on the beach.

Life Lately - Thorness Bay Beach29th May – I was so sad that this was the last day of our trip. In the morning we went to Osbourne House, former home of Queen Victoria which was absolutely breathtaking. Sadly this was the only day of the trip where the weather was absolutely terrible so we didn’t get to explore the beautiful grounds properly, before it started pouring with rain.

Then it was home on the ferry and back to London. Despite getting in at about 9pm, I started on the holiday washing straight away as I hate leaving it in the cases!

30th May – Lila and I headed to Morden Hall Park for a lovely picnic with her nursery friends, and then had a lovely walk to Deen City Farm to look at all the lovely animals. It was such a lovely way to spend the day. In the evening I popped out to see some of my other mummy friends for a quick drink.

31st May – I spent the whole day catching up on blog admin, answering emails, checking my social media and adding listings to my Etsy Shop.

1st – 5th June – The kids went back to school and I also had a delicious meal in Balham with some friends to celebrate my lovely friend Jo moving into her new flat. The rest of my week was spent catching up on work, repairing vintage and working. I was feeling really tired all week and didn’t do as much as I usually would.

6th June – This was an absolutely wonderful day. I have been a member of a Facebook group which arranges Meet-ups for people who love the 40s and 50s. I went to my first meet-up which was in Brighton and it was so nice to meet some other lovely ladies who all looked beautiful. We all really hit it off and I loved getting to know them all. I’m really looking forward to doing it again soon. I also took Jess with me and she had a really good day too. (thanks to Pauline for the pic)

10th June – The next week I had a really bad cold so I didn’t do a huge amount. On Wednesday I did pop into London for two fantastic press days. First up was Laura Ashley and as usual I was absolutely blown away by their gorgeous home range.

I then went to the Cath Kidston preview. There is so much gorgeous new stuff coming in later this year. I’ll be showing you all my highlights of both press days in a future post.

Sometimes it all gets a bit much and I just need to catch up on rest and take it easy. I have so many posts to get written in the next couple of weeks and lots of new things to add to the shop so I definitely won’t be so quiet this week!

It sounds like you’ve been having a fab time. I’m looking forward to your CK post.

One of my bosses years ago reckoned Blackgang Chine theme park was really odd, so it sounds as though it’s been done up a bit.

I sometimes think about doing “month in picture” posts, but often don’t go out enough in a given month to create exciting posts beyond the outfit ones I already share, so then I think maybe “season in picture”, but still potentially run into that, which naturally leads to year and that almost seems to big. Season could be the sweet spot for me though – it has the most potential, I think.

Have an awesome last week of spring,
    ♥ Jessica
