I’d like to take a moment to welcome my wonderful new blog sponsors Dolly and Dotty to the land of pretty dresses! I only recently discovered this lovely company and it’s opened up a whole new Pandora’s box of gorgeous dresses for me to covet! I was delighted when the lovely people at Dolly and Dotty said I could have one of their dresses to review. It always takes me a while to choose when I want absolutely everything, but in the end I chose this lovely floral shirt dress named Poppy.
What I really love about the style of dress and the print, is that it would work really well for both a 40s and 50s look. Today I’ve gone for a 50s housewife look with a petticoat and pearls. The shoes I’m wearing are an original vintage pair, which fall apart a little more every time I wear them, but I love them with this dress.
As usual I went for a size 14 and the fit was very true to size. The dress came with a matching belt, however I’ve paired it with my own belt for these pictures. The dress is made 95% cotton and 5% spandex, giving it all the softness of cotton with a little stretch for fit. The dress is hand wash only, but if you’re used to wearing real vintage hand washing will be a familiar chore anyway!
The dress fastens with a side zip which I always prefer as it gives a better fit and is more authentic for a vintage style dress. The dress is fully lined in a lovely contrasting green fabric. The pretty rose print is absolutely gorgeous and I like that it’s quite a small delicate print with a slightly faded feel, which made the dress look a little more like a real vintage one to me.
I’m really happy with my first dress from Dolly and Dotty and would definitely recommend them from my experience do far. I’m looking forward to trying more of their lovely dresses in the future. This particular dress and several others are available up to a size 24 so are perfect for plus size vintage fans too.
The dress is available in a selection of colours and prints, see the full selection of dresses here.
